TUCSON - The University of Arizona Wildcat men's and women's track and field team concluded the All-Comers meet on Sat., Dec. 10 at Roy P. Drachman Stadium. The red team won the event with a final score of 269 points, the blue team earned a second-place finish with 199 points and the white team finished in third with 144 points.
For the red squad, junior Nick Ross earned a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.42. He also won the long jump and triple jump with marks of 22-5 (6.83) and 47-1.5 (14.36), respectively. Ross took second in his prime event of the high jump, posting a mark of 7-0.5 (2.10). Junior Julie Labonté took first in the shot put with a throw of 56-10.25 (17.33). She also won the discus, throwing 170-9 (52.04). Junior Chris McSwain won the 60-meter dash and 150-meter dash, running 6.87 and 16.04, respectively. He also took second in the 300 meters, running 34.61.Senior Stephen Sambu won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:13.81 and finished in second place with a time of 2:31.71 in the 1,000 meters. Sophomore Amber Passalaqua won the long jump with a mark of 18-0 (5.49) and the triple jump, posting 36-10.25 (11.23). She finished second in the pole vault, clearing 6-6.75 (2.00). Sophomore Shapri Romero, sophomore Tamara Pridgett, freshman Azia Walker and senior Echos Blevins won the 4X300-meter relay for the red squad, posting a time of 2:40.13.
On the blue team, junior Jen Bergman won the 3,000-meter race in 10:23.42 and she earned a second-place finish in the 1,000 meters, clocking a time of 3:00.47. Sophomore Lawi Lalang won the 1,000-meter race with a time of 2:31.12 and he won the 600 meters with a time of 1:20.89. Lalang finished second in the 3K, clocking a time of 8:15.08. Junior Edgar Rivera-Morales won the high jump, clearing 7-0.5 (2.15). He also scored for the blue squad in the triple jump, posting a mark of 46-3.25 (14.10) and earning third place. Junior Armand Rhone won the 300 meters with a time of 34.15. He took third in the 60-meter dash, clocking a time of 7.09 and he posted a time of 16.30 in the 150 meters, good for second place. Freshman Siraaj Ghori, junior James Eichberger, Rhone and sophomore Sean Delfani won the 4X300-meter relay for the blue squad, clocking a time of 2:22.38.
The white squad was led by junior Brigetta Barrett who won the high jump, clearing 5-10.75 (1.80). Senior Chris McGovern won the pole vault clearing 13-5.75 (4.11), finished third in the high jump, clearing 5-10.75 (1.80), and he earned a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.55. Also, McGovern's time of 32.95 was good for second place in the 250-meter hurdles. Junior Clifton Leake won the 250-meter hurdles clocking a time of 32.33. Leake took second in the 60-meter sprint with a time of 7.07 and also ran the 150 meters 16.36, good for third place.
Arizona's first indoor meet of the season will take place on Jan. 14, 2012 at the Lumberjack Invitational in Flagstaff, Ariz., hosted by Northern Arizona University.
