SFTCS COMPETITION

Congratulations to our women's swimming and diving team and our women's indoor track and fieldsquads for their fourth- and second-place finishes in league championships last weekend. Both meets could be said to be tune-ups for national championships, and our people performed well toward that end. Too, the results gave us two more points in the State Farm Territorial Cup Seriesagainst our sister institution for an overall 6.5 to 2.5 lead in the Series. We'll need just three more points for another SFTCS title, and commence working at it again this week in the Pac-12 men's swimming and diving competition. Too, the men's and women's basketball teams conclude their ASU series this week with SFTCS half-points on the line.

The women's basketball home game vs. Arizona State on Saturday afternoon is a Red Out and Senior Day. Please arrive early to help honor the departing seniors. Tickets are available by calling 520-621-CATS (2287) or by visiting ArizonaWildcats.com.

MAKING THE GRADE-O

Diver Ben Grado swept the field in the Pac-12 Men's Diving Championships last week in Federal Way, Wash. (The men's diving events were a week earlier for convenience) Ben won the 3-meter, platform and 1-meter events to become the first male diver to do so since 2008. The victories give UA a fine head start in the men's league championships. Congratulations to Ben for an outstanding weekend.

`COLORING' YOUR WHEELS

We're reminded by Phoenix alum Chris Brozina that University of Arizona license plates are a handy means of wearing the colors each time you drive your vehicle. Chris says he notices our school's plates outweigh the opposition by a wide margin in the Phoenix area - and that's always good. Next time you re-new your vehicle plates give consideration to wearing the colors. There is an extra fee involved but a sizeable portion of it goes to UA scholarship funds. That's an outstanding benefit.

HOOP DREAMS

Few in the trade like talking about this stuff before it's a reality but our planners and do-ers have to be ready. Sean Miller's basketball team has quite a bit to play for this week and at the 2012 Pacific Life Pac-12 Tournament (March 7-10), as you know. The McKale ticket office still has a few all-session ticket packages available for the conference tournament. Order online or call 520-621-CATS (2287) if you are interested in supporting the team in LA. Ticketing information for postseason competition is now available on the men's basketball ticket page on ArizonaWildcats.com. Postseason ticket applications are currently available for season ticket holders and Wildcat Club members. The deadline to request postseason tickets is Sunday, March 11 at 8:00 a.m. CBS' Selection Sunday show which will air late afternoon of March 11 sets the process in motion. Suffice it to say we want to be bringing you the best possible news. Go Cats and Bear Down!

COACH ROD AND THE GUYS

Spring football begins March 5 and culminates with the Spring Game on April 14. That event will be free and open to the public. After two months of hard conditioning work, the team is eager to explore the full-steam-ahead spread offense and 3-3-5 defense Coach Rich Rodriguez will be installing. "Huddles are a waste of time," Coach Rod has said more than once in his public appearances, and I'm eager to see the action as well. Inside word is that he and his staff will have to be doing a lot more evaluating than normal for spring because this will be their first views of our guys in equipment. It's easily as important a spring session as we've had in some time. One thing for sure, Coach Rodriguez and his staff have embraced the Wildcat family with considerable verve. It's going to be fun to watch our friends go to work. (And, of course, make your plans to have season tickets in hand!)

Speaking of season tickets, I would be remiss if I didn't remind you that the early online renewal deadline is tonight for season ticket holders. Renewals are up from this time last year, but we still have a long ways to go. Don't miss out on the perks of renewing early such as $10 store credit at BearDownShop.com and having the $10 service fee waived. Remember we have a payment plan option available which divides the season ticket cost into monthly installments. If you haven't renewed your season tickets online yet, click this link and please get it taken care of tonight so you can take advantage of the savings.

A LOOK BACK AT SOME SPECIAL NIGHTS

It's been a great year for creating memories at our home facilities. Two of them that stand out are the WHITEOUT vs. Washington on January 28 and Opening Day at Hi Corbett Field on February 17. Our staff has prepared two ways to look back on those nights. We have a fun 360 photo (click here to view) of the McKale Center crowd. Look around and see if you can spot yourself. Also be on the lookout for some of the interactive links found throughout the picture. For the baseball game, we have created a special video that captures the full day of that first Arizona home game at Hi Corbett. It really does a great job of showcasing the family-friendly environment we now have for Arizona baseball games.

LEARN THE 3 C'S IF YOU WITNESS A SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST

Each day in the United States, about 1,000 lives are lost to sudden cardiac death (SCD).
Every 90 seconds, this killer claims another victim. Sudden cardiac death is the leading cause of natural deaths in the United States, taking more than 335,000 lives each year, more than are lost to lung cancer, breast cancer and AIDS combined. You can double a person's chance of survival by learning the 3 C's of Chest-Compression-Only CPR: Check, Call, Compress.

Watch this brief video to learn how.

CONGRATS TO A SOFTBALL LETTERWINNER

A special shout out to softball letterwinner Leah O'Brien-Amico ('97) for being named to the NPF Florida Pride coaching staff. Leah is a three-time USA gold medalist and we wish her success in her softball coaching career. It's always rewarding to see a letterwinner stay involved with their sport.
