Wildcat Wednesday - 3/20/13

March 20, 2013

VEGAS IS WILDCAT COUNTRY

To our passionate fan base who traveled to the Pac-12 Tournament, thank you!
Coach Miller and the team were blown away from the support we received in Las Vegas. (And to those of you who were unable to join us, we appreciate you cheering on the Cats from wherever you watched or listened to the game.) It was amazing to have games not involving Arizona and hear the “U of A” chant take over the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Although we came up short of  our ultimate goal  of winning the conference tournament, another building block was solidly put in place for the strength and support of the University of Arizona.  We want this to become a tradition. Mark your calendars now for March 2014.

NCAA TOURNAMENT INFO

We’re pleased with our draw for the 2013 NCAA Basketball Tournament. Salt Lake City is an excellent destination. Our staff is familiar with the area, it’s geographically close for fan travel and the University of Utah always does an outstanding job of hosting. As everyone probably knows,
men’s basketball will play Belmont Thursday at 5:20 p.m. MDT (4:20 p.m. in Tucson). The game will be played at the Energy Solutions Arena and televised live on TNT.

We have sold out of our allotment of tickets but as of Wednesday morning, a limited amount of tickets are available through the Energy Solutions
box office (800-888-8499). Bon Voyage Travel has packages available for those looking for assistance with travel and/or lodging. If you are going to be in Salt Lake City, make plans to join us for two special events hosted by our friends at the Alumni Association. All of this information can be found on our NCAA Tournament information page on ArizonaWildcats.com.

One last note about the games…if you’re attending, we’re asking all fans to wear
red on Thursdayvs. Belmont and, should we advance, blue on Saturday vs. with the New Mexico/Harvard winner. Bear Down!

A-CLUB LETTERWINNERS UPDATE

Derek Earls, football letterwinner class of 2011, is back in his home town Waconia, Minn. He is currently training with WelleFast Elite Sports Training to stay in shape for football with his recent signing with the Green Bay Blizzard of the indoor football league. In the fall he volunteered with his high school football team to help teach the players and coaches some of the skills he acquired while playing at Arizona. “I met a lot of great people when I was at Arizona and left having a lot of new friends. It was an amazing experience.” Derek, best of luck with your new adventure and remember you will forever be a Wildcat! Bear Down!
