TUCSON, Ariz. -- One month after its launch announcement, the Arizona Wildcats Sports Network has expanded from 2,275,000 state of Arizona over-the-air households to 10- to more than 21-million national subscribers for game broadcasts.

AWSN has formed partnerships with Comcast SportsNet's multiple channels to provide satellite sports tier channel availability, along with San Diego Cox local cable channel 4, and the Altitude Sports & Entertainment regional sports network in the 10-state Rocky Mountain region.

"This is significant progress for our Wildcat fans nationwide," UA athletics director Jim Livengood said. "Our network has really taken shape and will greatly benefit our entire University. We will deliver high-quality broadcasts and are very proud of these new distribution channels with unprecedented exposure for our sport programs and current and future student-athletes."

AWSN has finalized its television broadcast team for the 2009-10 athletic year after a thorough audition process, including 11-year NFL veteran John Fina (UA 1987-91) as football color analyst, 1986 Los Angeles Raiders NFL free agent Glenn Howell (UA 1983-85) as football field host and sideline reporter, Dave Sitton (UA 1974-78) now in his 21st year of handling the football and men's basketball play-by-play, and 12-year basketball professional Corey Williams (UA 1992-96) as men's basketball color analyst.

All broadcast talent were confirmed by Brent A. Seebohm, serving as AWSN Executive Producer, and will report to full-time Director of Broadcasting Brian Jeffries, who begins his 29th year with UA and 23rd year as the Voice of Wildcats calling football, men's basketball, and baseball radio play-by-play. The AWSN brand also encompasses online web streaming and the radio broadcast network. Men's basketball alumnus Matt Muehlebach (UA 1988-1991) will serve as Jeffries' radio color analyst succeeding Ryan Hansen, who will focus on his full-time athletic fundraising administrative role. The Lamont Lovett, David Kelly, and Francisco Romero radio roles remain similar to previous seasons, while introducing IMG's Mr. Dana Cooper as the new football radio sideline reporter.

"We are extremely fortunate to confirm this new television broadcast team who will showcase our University nationwide with this quality AWSN fresh start," Seebohm stated. "I'm excited to see the ultimate preparation and evolving on-air television skill of these passionate Wildcat graduates with the mentoring of Brian Jeffries, who is the best in the business."

AWSN will produce the UA's football season opener against Central Michigan, the home game with Northern Arizona as tape-delayed due to a Pac-10 protected time window, and likely one other live football contest. Every AWSN football game and a majority of basketball telecasts will be replayed on Tucson's KGUN-TV at 10:35 p.m. Saturdays.

For the AWSN-produced 35 total weekly shows first airing in Tucson on Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. (KWBA) and at 10:35 p.m. (KGUN), the first "Wildcat Fastbreak with Sean Miller" show will air on August 19, the first of seven "Bear Down Insider" specialty magazine show will air on August 26, and the first "Inside the Huddle with Mike Stoops" weekly show will air on September 2.
