????????????LOS ANGELES ¨C?The second-ranked Arizona baseball program lost its first weekend series of the season, falling 5-0 in the rubber game at USC on Saturday. The loss, UA¡¯s second straight and fourth in it last five games, dropped the Wildcats to 13-5 for the year and 1-2 in the Pac-10 while the Trojans improved 11-9 overall and to 2-1 in the conference.

????????????The Trojans took advantage of Arizona¡¯s 33rd?error of the season to open up a 1-0 edge in the fourth. Starting from second, SC¡¯s Nick Buss came around to score on a nubber down the third baseline that UA starter Eric Berger threw past first baseman C.J. Ziegler to allow the run to score.

????????????USC expanded the one-run lead to a 4-0 gap in the fifth with three runs on four straight hits, including three infield singles, and a sacrifice fly.

????????????Meanwhile, Trojan starter Ryan Cook (3-1) held the Wildcat offense in check, shutting out UA on only three hits in a complete game effort. The right-hander struck out five and walked one to pick up his third win of the year. Including a double play in the fifth, Cook retired 17 straight UA hitters from third through the ninth innings.

????????????UA¡¯s Berger (1-1) was charged with his first loss of the season, surrendering four runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings of work. He struck out six and walked two on the afternoon.

????????????Arizona will take Easter Sunday off before traveling to Stillwater, Okla., for a midweek two-game set against Oklahoma State on Tuesday and Wednesday.
