Underwent an MRI in November of 1998, after experiencing pain and the stress fracture was revealed... Was in a hard cast for about four weeks and then a walking cast for another four... With the injury healed, began practicing towards the end of February.

High School: As a senior went for 20 ppg, 11 rpg and 6 apg and was named the Division III Player of the Year for University High School... Was also the CIF and Western League Player of the Year... A good student, he was a member of the All-Academic first team for San Diego county... Led his team to a 26-4 record as a senior, 25-5 as a junior and 28-3 as a sophomore... Team went undefeated in conference play during his three years (42-0)... Was University High School’s Athlete of the Year as senior... Averaged 16 ppg, 10 rpg and six apg as a junior and was named to the San Diego Union Tribune’s All-Region team... Was rated as the No. 7 player in the Long Beach Press Telegram’s Best of the West poll.
