Arizona Head Coach Sean Miller
"I credit Utah. They did a great job this whole weekend. They lost a heartbreaker to Arizona State. They played us really tough. They are a much improved team. They have a lot of new players that are very good. Jordan Loveridge, their freshman, was one of the best players on the court. He's a very, very good player. In the first half, he was the reason that the game was as close as it was. He carried them in a very big way. Utah is also a very good defensive team. They did a very good job against us defensively. They made it hard for us and that kept them in the game. We were once again fortunate to win. I credit Mark Lyons. Making clutch free throws is not an easy thing, and he's done it so remarkably well for 14 games. That alone is a huge reason why we are undefeated and in the position we are in."
On continuing forward:
"We are not playing well. We are nowhere near where we need to be. Sometimes you hit a peak when you're playing so well and think no one in the country can beat you. Once in a while you don't play well and are reminded of how difficult it is to win every game. We got through a weekend here where the difference was very few points, but we were able to win both. We will be able to learn from these."
On Utah's defense:
"The first half we had better ball movement and made shots that we missed in the second half. Utah did a really good job. Our ball movement wasn't nearly as good. We had a rough time making shots. From a defensive perspective we, for the most part, were good in the first half. In the second half, they shot 52 percent. There's a lot we can learn. We have to play a lot better if we want to win in this conference."
On success of rebounding and keeping turnovers to a minimum:
"We did a really good job taking care of the ball. That's a big reason we were able to win. Having only nine turnovers is excellent. It's something we've talked about, and we are improving in that area. The talent of our team rebounding is great, especially Kaleb [Tarczewski] and Solomon [Hill]. Those two play really hard. Our rebounding margin and 18-second shots is what we have done the best from start to finish. We need to continue doing that. We need to grow and develop. A year ago we were striving for more wins and couldn't believe that we could be as good as we are."
Arizona Player Quotes
Senior Guard Kevin Parrom
On back-to-back close games:
"Teams are giving us their best shot. We have to understand that we have a bull's-eye on our back. We have to be tougher from here on out since we are number three in the nation and undefeated, everybody needs to understand that. We have to play harder; nobody is giving us anything easy."
On Utah playing style:
"They had a different style. It was a weird feeling out there with the way they play. It caught us off guard in the beginning but we picked it up."
Senior Forward Solomon Hill
On bull's-eye on back:
"That's only half of it. We watched film on Utah and they had a different defense on us. Were at home and it would be different if we were at Utah. We played at their pace and took away all of our fast breaks. Our defense was lacking and that was our number one problem tonight. It's a give and take and we gave away a lot of threes and we need to work on our defense."
On attention last 48 hours:
"That's what the media is for, to get attention. It's nothing that bothered us; we had a game to play. It went 13-0 on our record and we had to worry about Utah."
Freshman Forward Brandon Ashley
On difference between early in the game compared to later:
"I came out with energy and I felt they weren't pressuring me as much as they did towards the end of the game. I had a lot of open shots and set screens. My teammates were able to give me the ball in open spots."
