Arizona head coach Sean Miller
On Kevin Parrom's performance:
"Kevin Parrom's effort in the second half, we really needed him to step up and make shots. And he did. The percentage that he shot in Pac-12 play is not reflective of who he is as a shooter. It's up to us to give him good shots, and it's up to him to take the good shots. When he does, we just know that essentially that percentage will go up. With his 19 points, that's why we are starting him. As you can see, a senior late in February with a lot at stake, I don't know where we would be in this game if Kevin didn't play the way he did."
On Kaleb Tarczewski's performance:
"Kaleb [Tarczewski] rebounded with two hands. I think his teammates did a very good job of getting him the ball close to the basket. He was strong and secure."
On improving the passing game:
"We're not the best passing team. We're trying to get better at it. That's what is remarkable about 19 assists and 11 turnovers it really shows a team that shares the ball and makes the extra pass."
On having eight players playing double figure minutes:
"No questions it's a help. Grant [Jerrett] hit a couple of threes which was great. In 17 minutes you have to continue to rebound and defend better. Like I said, I can't be happier for Kevin [Parrom]. He was five-for-six at the three with 19 points. It's been overdue. He'll be the first one to tell you. He's had about a two and a half week period of time where he has had balls that haven't gone in. I've really tried to encourage him to be patient and make sure he makes good shots like he did today."
On road trip to USC, UCLA:
"It's a good road stretch for us. We have a three game season. We've continue to talk about competing for the Pac-12 championship title. Sometimes you have to have good fortune to actually win it. While we're on the road we have to defend and play well. We know that when we played USC we probably had them at an ideal time. They're really playing much better. We have to be able to leave this game, move forward, and play better. It's going to take a great performance at USC for us."
Arizona Player Quotes
Senior Forward Kevin Parrom
On performance tonight:
"I've been in a slump the past few games but coach [Miller] told me to keep playing. There are a few things we can do better as a team but we have to keep practicing to get better on defense. We have a lot of young guys that play defense but we have to keep getting better defensively to get to where we want to be."
On difference in tonight's game:
"I was patient these past few games in trying to get my shots down instead of forcing them. I have to be patient and let the game come to me. My teammates helped me out by getting me open for shots. It was a good night for me and I'm glad I played well."
On playing with big leads:
"We have to keep playing through big leads. That's where myself, Solomon [Hill], and Mark [Lyons] come into play. We have to keep playing no matter what the score is, that's one thing coach [Miller] told us and that's what we did in the second half tonight. We were able to concentrate on offense but we have to focus on both offense and defense if we want to be that great team."
On tie for first place in the Pac-12:
"I'm selfish; I don't want to share with anybody. I'm a senior and I want to cut down the nets on senior night. We want to do what we do because we can't control what the other team does. The next few games we have to buckle down on defense and play consistent."
Freshman Center Kaleb Tarczewski
On finding confidence:
"It's tough being a freshman but as the games go on I gain confidence. At the beginning of the season I was struggling to find my way but the team's been doing a great job of finding me and getting me the ball. That's been helping me with my confidence and I'm starting to find myself."
