Arizona Head Coach Sean Miller:
"I really knew that the game was going to go this way. We've won a lot of close games, but we've also lost a number of heartbreakers this season. There was a chance that we would fracture when we went down by six in the second half, but we didn't. Kyle Fogg kept us in the game, and played extremely hard."
"Today was really for our seniors. It's important to our program, and important to them that they come out of today with success. I'm glad Alex Jacobson got a chance to play in the first half, and the leadership from Jesse Perry and Kyle Fogg was crucial for today's outcome. Brendon Lavender gave us twenty-six hard minutes of defense that we really needed. It's not that Nick Johnson and Josiah Turner didn't do what they need to do, but today was about the team as a whole."
"Kyle Fogg defended Lazeric Jones the entire game, and did a great job holding him to only one basket. He had twenty points, but it was really his defensive effort that was outstanding."
"We had fifteen turnovers in the game, and there were a few in the last two minutes that really gave UCLA the chance to come out with the win. It didn't have to get that close, but we balanced that by going to the free throw line thirty-two times. We really needed those points, especially in the second half."
"It's very valuable that we have only one game next week. We have the opportunity to do well and be smart about how we prepare. It's hard to get any better at this point in the season. We actually took Monday off this week, and I think that is part of the reason why we were successful today. Now we have the chance to take a couple days off as we prepare for a very tough game in Tempe, and there is no chance that it will be easy. It's our rivalry game, I hope our fans come out to support us, and I know we will have to play hard in order to come out with the win."
Arizona Player Quotes
#21 Kyle Fogg
On this being his last home game:
"It was one game I will never forget. It was a good battle and we came down at the end,"
On feeling more pressure because of that at the end:
"Yeah a little bit. I wanted to go out with a win."
On stepping up in the last 10 minutes:
"I wanted to give the guys energy. We stepped it up and had great screens. We made good baskets and fed off the energy. We picked it up a notch."
On three pointer in the last 50 seconds
"In the timeout Coach Miller called the play if I was open. We were able to get it up and I knocked down a three."
#44 Solomon Hill
"UCLA is a big team. They have the Wear twins and Josh played. It was different from the last time we played them. They scored off of our turnovers."
On the difference from playing in California on Jan. 5:
"We had big attacks. We made it hard for them in the post, We weren't ready for them in the first game."
On the slow 1st half
"It was a slow paced game, you can't expect to take off. Each possession counts, it's like two possessions. You have to come down and defend, we didn't. It's about key stops and converting to offense."
On thinking about the NCAA Tournament
"We don't. We're thinking about the conference. Our main focus is winning and getting in a good position to go to the (Pac-12 tournament) championship game. We have to focus on each game and see where we're seeded. It's not over yet. We still have time to do things to shine light on us. We're looking forward to the next game against ASU and we will see where we finish."
#33 Jesse Perry
On improving aggression
"It is really important. We stressed being aggressive in practice. Coach Miller wants me to get the ball and attack."
On the Senior Day ceremony
"I knew it was going to come, but I wasn't going to cry or anything. It was emotional from the team's standpoint and the fans. You develop a brotherhood with the team and the fans are really supportive. It makes it hard to leave."
