Arizona Head Coach Sean Miller:
"Obviously it means a lot to us to have all these former players here for today's scrimmage. They are a big part of our culture, as the guys who played today are a major part of our future. I'd also like to thank the fans for coming out the way they did, and the ticket office, for giving us an atmosphere that few college basketball programs ever get to see."
"We have a lot of young, new guys who are learning our program, and some of our returning players are learning new roles for this season. There were a lot of glimpses of good, but after only sixteen days, there is still a lot that we have to work on in order to be ready for our first games."
On Sidiki Johnson's performance:
"Sidiki isn't a three point shooter. Sometimes that happens in scrimmages like these, but I believe that he will be a bright spot for us. He is going to help us a lot in the front court, and it's very good to see him play the way he did."
On Nick Johnson:
"Obviously, Nick can do a lot. From the dunk contest and his performance in the scrimmage, you can see that he has an athleticism that few players at his stage have. It's important that he starts to understand our defense, and I know that he is capable of that. We will prepare him in these upcoming weeks, and he is going to be a big part of what we are doing."
On Jesse Perry:
"I think Jesse Perry is making that jump from his first year to his second that most players do. When he has a wide open shot from three, he's great. He's improved a lot over the off season, and will make a significant impact this season."
On probable starters:
"Solomon Hill at the three will be a starter, and Kyle Fogg will probably start, but for the other three positions, I'll have to continue to watch the team at practice the next few weeks."
On Josiah Turner:
"The expectations on Josiah right now are almost ridiculous. People are talking about his future before he's scored his first basket. One of the worst messages to give to a player in a college program is that college is a sentence (that you have to serve). Right now, our four freshmen know four plays, and haven't even practiced into the double digits. Before any of their futures can be evaluated, our guys need to play their first game.
On the turn out and atmosphere of Red-Blue game:
"This was definitely the loudest Red-Blue game I've been at. It was completely sold out the day before. With NBA players and Lute Olson coming back of course it was going to be loud."
"It was a great feeling to see all the guys come back here to support us - especially seeing Derrick again. He used to play with us so it's awesome to see him come back to be honored."
"I need to take away bits and pieces from this scrimmage. The purpose of the red and blue game is to get the game down pat, and work out little details. For example, Jesse is doing things that he has never done before, so I see a lot of improvement across the board."
On the freshmen:
"Seeing the four freshmen come out here and play as well as they did was great. Of course they are going to make mistakes, but now they can go back and watch the tapes of how they played in front of a crowd."
On his injured foot:
"It's feeling great. I'm back to 100 percent. I've been practicing and lifting weights well."
On Nick Johnson's first week:
"He did well. We know he is an athlete and he has been working hard in practice. He's a defensive player and he's dedicated in practice. He came out here playing his game, and his effort showed."
