Men's Basketball Adds Player to Roster
Aug. 26, 2010
TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men's basketball coach Sean Miller today announced that Robert Arvizu has been added to the roster. Arvizu's addition as a walk-on brings the number of active players for the 2010-11 campaign to 15. A 6-foot, 185-pound freshman guard from Phoenix, Ariz., joins the program after earning four letters in basketball for coach Joseph Bustos at North High School. He capped his prep career with back-to-back Class 5A state championships, including hitting the game-winning shot in the 2009 state title game, a 42-39 victory over Tucson's Ironwood Ridge. Arvizu (pronounced Are-vee-zoo) averaged 9.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game as a senior, helping the Mustangs to a 28-3 record. He finished in double figures 16 times in 2009-10, including a season-best 24 points vs. Clovis (N.M.) High on Jan. 9. Arizona is tentatively scheduled to open the 2010-11 season on Sunday, Nov. 14, in McKale Center against Idaho State.
