Chris Allen was named Associate Athletics Director for Strength and Conditioning in December 2011. He oversees the entire Arizona Strength and Conditioning program, while working specifically with football.
Allen was the Director of Skill Development and Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning at Michigan from 2008-10 while Rodriguez was head coach, and spent five seasons (2003-07) as a member of the West Virginia strength staff as Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning and Director of Skill Development while Rodriguez was head coach in Morgantown.
A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Allen was a sprinter on the WVU track team from 1996-2000 and graduated in 2000 with degrees in accounting and management information systems. He later earned a master's degree in athletic coaching education from WVU in 2005 while serving as an assistant with noted strength coach Mike Barwis.
His athletic and academic accomplishments include the 2000 West Virginia University Track and Field Academic Award, first-team all-conference honors in 1999 and 2000, academic all-conference honors from 1997 to 2000, and an annual citation as a WVU Storer Scholar Award from 1995 to 1999. He was an Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America sprint champion in 2000.
Allen holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the National Association of Speed and Explosion, USA Weightlifting Level I Sports and the American Red Cross.
