Heavner was appointed offensive graduate assistant in February 2011 and begins his coaching career at his alma mater. He has been involved with the program as a player or volunteer aide for nine years.

He has been an office aide for Mike Stoops' staff for the past three years and has been involved in Arizona football since his true freshman year as a quarterback in 2003. He finished his playing career in 2007 as a four-year letterman.

He'll work closely with quarterbacks coach Frank Scelfo.

He earned The Sporting News Pac-10 all-freshman honors after taking over the starting QB role four games into the year, finishing with eight starts and a then UA-freshman record of 1,501 passing yards, with eight TDs. He had six starts in 2004 before transferring to Baylor for the fall of 2005, but returned to Arizona for spring ball 2006. He ended up playing in 22 games.

Heavner prepped at Lyndon B. Johnson High School in Johnson city, Texas, earning first-team AP Class 2A all-state honors his senior year.

He graduated from the UA in 2008 with a degree in sociology. He was born Sept. 24, 1984, in Fredericksburg, Texas.
