Nichol enters his fifth year on the staff and in 2011 will take over responsibilities for both the outside and inside receivers. He was promoted to the outside receivers coach position in February 2008 after serving in 2007 as the offensive graduate student. His charges in 2010 were a prominent feature in UA's offense, generating more than 2,000 He's Arizona's sideline wig-wag man on offense, working with the coordinators to signal plays to the quarterback. Nichol added outstanding familiarity with the spread to the offensive staff and in his first two years as a full-time coach has helped Arizona's offense move the ball and score points. He worked with inside receivers at Baylor in 2006, and before that worked three seasons (2203-05) helping with the offensive line at Texas tech. At Texas Tech, working with current co-coordinator Bill Bedenbaugh and former UA coach Sonny Dykes as a 2003 graduate assistant, Nichol helped the Red Raiders elevate their status as a national passing leader in breaking numerous school, conference and national records. Nichol spent the 2002 season as the passing game coordinator at Cisco, Texas, Junior College. He was a collegiate receiver at Tech from 1996 to 1999 and worked as a student coach on the Red Raiders staff, assisting with quarterbacks and receivers, after earning his degree in exercise and sport sciences. He later earned a master's from TTU in May 2002 in interdisciplinary studies. Nichol is a graduate of Jesuit High School in Dallas. He was born Oct. 5, 1976 in Chicago, Ill.
Career Highlights Coached sophomore Juron Criner to a 45-catch season, scoring a league- and team-high nine touchdowns in 2009. He and senior Terrell Turner were Arizona's top receivers with a combined 93 catches for a combined 1,040 yards and 13 scores. Coached Delashaun Dean and Turner to 53- and 43-catch seasons in complementing their work in helping the offense become an effective multiple-threat team in 2008. Dean cam eback with 43 grabs in 2009. Worked with offensive coaches at Baylor to incorporate the spread, a system that helped the Bears set numerous school single-season passing records including yards, completions, percentage and touchdowns. Tutored BU's Justin Fenty, who made The Sporting News Big XII All-Freshman team as a receiver, and also coached Bears' most improved player honoree Thomas White. Led an offense as passing game coordinator at Cisco College that finished first in the Southwest Junior Football Conference in passing and second in total offense in 2002.
