Rice enters his third season at Arizona after joining the staff shortly before 2008 spring practice to work with the offensive coaches. He has primary duties helping offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh, plus also coaches the defensive scout team. Rice, 31, is in his ninth year of coaching and came to Arizona from Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he served three seasons as the defensive line coach and special teams coordinator. He was a graduate assistant at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D.., from 2003 to 2005, where he had duties as special teams coordinator and tight ends/fullbacks coach. Prior to that stint, he coached both lines at McFarland, Wis., High School in 2002. Rice earned an undergraduate degree in physical education from Wisconsin-Whitewater with a minor in coaching in 2001. A three-year starter at defensive tackle, he lettered four years for the Warhawks. He earned his master's degree while coaching at Northern State. Rice and the former Alicia Verhage were married in 2007.
