TUCSON - Former University of Arizona football player Greg Nwoko, also a recent UA graduate, has been honored with a National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) Scholar Baller Academic Momentum Award.

Nwoko was recognized for his determination to balance both academics and athletics will playing running back and linebacker for the football team. He spent countless hours in study hall, with tutors and on campus to ensure he was meeting all academic standards.

Additionally, Nwoko had numerous injuries and surgeries during his time at UA. He was forced to miss both the 2011 and 2012 season but still remained in meetings, at practices and at workouts with his teammates.

He accumulated more than 20 hours of community service during his time at Arizona. He has participated in Sierra Vista Rotary Club events, March of Dimes Foundation events and attended visits to the Diamond Children's Medical Center and the University Medical Center.
