Dan Buckner was named to the 2012 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List, it was announced by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc. on Tuesday. The award annually recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football. The award recipient is selected by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of over 180 prominent football journalists, commentators, and receivers.
Buckner, a native of Allen, Texas, is expected to challenge as one of the league's top performers on the outside as fifth-year senior in 2012. He logged one formation start in 12 games played in 2011. Buckner finished with 42 catches for 606 yards and two touchdowns. He recorded an Arizona career-best 10 receptions for 142 yards and a score at Oklahoma State for an introduction in his second game. Later, he had career-best 144 yards and a TD on eight catches at Oregon State. He was added to the 2011 Biletnikoff Award watch list early in last season.
He is one of six Pac-12 receivers recognized by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club. The senior was also named to the 2012 CFPA Wide Receiver Trophy Watch List earlier this month. He transferred from the University of Texas and enrolled at UA in January 2010 and redshirted the 2010 season.
The 2012 winner will be presented live on December 6, 2012, on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show to be broadcast on ESPN. The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc. will announce the 10 Biletnikoff Award semifinalists on November 12, 2012, following the vote by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee. Likewise, the three finalists will be declared, following another vote, on November 19, 2012.
