20070818 Workout Closes Camp
TUCSON--The Arizona Wildcat football team closed its fall training camp with a solid 100-play workout before an estimated crowd of 7,500 at Arizona Stadium on Meet the Team night Saturday. "We got a lot of work accomplished tonight, and worked hard," head coach Mike Stoops said. The offense scoreed five touchdowns on drives of 68, 67, 77, 75 and 55 yards, with one of those a 75-yard bomb to receiver Anthony Johnson. Meantime, the defense had 16 drive stops and six sacks, plus interceptions by Cam Nelson -- 45 yards -- and Adrian McCovy. Punter Keenyn Crier had a 52-yard average on five kicks, while place kicker Jason Bondzio had three of four field goals including a 46-yarder. Alex Zendejas made both his attempts, one from 37 yards out. Arizona opens the season Sept. 1 at Brigham Young University in a game to be televised nationally on Versus cable. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. in Provo (2:30 p.m. MST). Arizona held camp from Aug. 2 through Saturday night, with very few days off and only a handful of double-day drills. -------------------------------------------------------------- Unofficial Scrimmage Statistics -?Aug. 18, 2007 Plays: 100 Passing Rushing: Receiving: Kicking Defensive Leaders ? ? ?
