Arizona Junior Varsity Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Anteater Invitational

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Arizona's junior varsity golf team succumbed to rain and poor weather Tuesday, finishing in fourth place at the Anteater Invitational with a 54-hole total of 900 (+36). Senior Brian Woolf was Arizona's top individual finisher as he claimed fourth place with a three-day score of 1-over-par 217. UC Riverside took the tournament title by shooting a final-round 301 to finish at 10-over 874. Host school UC Irvine finished in second place at 892 (+28), while Texas-El Paso took third place at 895 (+31), just five strokes ahead of the Wildcats. Individually, Chris Baryla of Texas-El Paso claimed medalist honors as he posted a three-day total of 213 (-3). Arizona was paced Tuesday by sophomore Kipp Riehle, who posted the team's best individual round of the day as he shot 1-over-par 73. Riehle finished in a tie for 12th place. Woolf used a final-round 78 to close the tournament at 1-over 217 and in fourth place. Rounding out Arizona's lineup were junior Nick Juszczak, freshman Zack Amole and sophomore Nathan Lashley. Juszczak closed the tournament at 231 (+15) after a third-round of 82 (+10). Amole finished in a tie for 34th place as he shot 9-over 81 to complete the tournament at 233. Lashley claimed a tie for 38th place as he carded 234 over the three-day tournament. The Anteater Invitational completes the junior varsity schedule for the 2002-03 season, Arizona's varsity squad is back in action on Feb. 19 when it opens play at the John Burns Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii.
