Oja leads the Wildcats at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona Wildcat men’s golf team competed in the first round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate today. The Wildcats finished the first round in a tie for third place by shooting a total score of 292 (+4).
California’s Joel Stalter has the individual lead for the tournament. Stalter carded a first round score of 67 (-5). He is leading the Golden Bears, who finished on top of the leader board after the first round. California shot a total team score of 284 (-4) for the first round.
Junior Erik Oja was the only player for Arizona to shoot under par. He finished the first round by firing a 69 (-3), earning third place on the leader board after day one.
For Arizona, senior Juan Pablo Hernandez shot a first round score of 73 (+1). He currently sits in a tie for 13th place. Brenden Redfern finished with a 74 (+2) in the first round, the sophomore is in a tie for 23rd place. Dylan Healey is in a tie for 39th place and scored a 76 (+4) in the first round. Trent Redfern rounded out the team by shooting a 77 (+5) in the first round. Competing as an individual, Alex McMahon shot a first round score of 79 (+7).
The second round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, which is held at Turtle Bay Resort’s Arnold Palmer Course in Kahuku, HI will begin tomorrow at 7:30 (HST). For live results of the tournament go to www.golfstat.com and go to www.ArizonaWildcats.com to get complete results after the round.
