Redfern Finishes Strong at the Pac-12 Preview

TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona’s men’s golf team finished competing at the Pac-12 Preview today in Portland, OR. Due to darkness yesterday, the second round could not be completed, and the players had to finish their rounds this morning.

When the second round was completed, the Wildcats sat in a tie for 10th place with a score of 583 (+7). Individually, Trent Redfern and Erik Oja both sat in a tie for 21st place with scores of 144 (E). Alex McMahon sat in a tie for 38th place with a score of 149 (+5). Tucker Wadkins was in a tie for 53rd with a score of 154 (+10), and Dylan Healey was in a tie for 56th with a score of 155 (+11).

For the third round, Arizona finished with a score of 290 (+2), giving them a total score of 873 (+9) for the tournament. “This is a fantastic event,” head coach Jim Anderson said. “Some of the best teams in the country participate in this tournament, so this is great competition. The finish was disappointing, but we are making strides as a team.” The Wildcats finished in 10th place overall, 38 shots behind the Golden Bears of California, who won the tournament in the team category.

Senior Trent Redfern was Arizona’s top performer for the tournament. He shot a third round score of 70 (-2), giving him a total score of 214 (-2). Redfern finished the tournament strongly by playing the last 36 holes -7. “Trent is a fighter,” Anderson said. “He never abandoned the game plan, and he stayed tough mentally. We look to him as a leader on the team.” The senior finished in a tie for 20th overall, 9 shots behind Washington’s Trevor Simsby, who shot a 205 (-11) for the tournament, giving him the victory individually.


 

 

Erik Oja carded a third round score of 74 (+2), giving him a final score of 218 (+2). The junior finished in a tie for 22nd on the leader board.

Alex McMahon ended the match by carding a 75 (+3) for the third round, giving him a total score of 224 (+8) for the tournament. The sophomore finished in 41st place overall.

Tucker Wadkins finished off the tournament by shooting a third round score of 71 (-1). Wadkins ended the tournament with a total score of 225 (+9). He finished in a tie for 45th place for the match.

Dylan Healey scored a 78 (+6) for the third round, giving him a total score of 233 (+17) for the tournament. Healey finished in 58th place.
