Wildcats Set for NCAA Championships

The competition takes place Thursday-Saturday at the IUPUI Natatorium

10-time All-American through his three seasons at Arizona...Mid-distance freestyler who has scored points for UA in all three of his NCAA Championships...Became the first-ever Israeli swimmer to qualify as an Olympic Semifinalist in the Beijing Games in 2008

2010-11:Earned five All-America honors at the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis...Swam on the 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle and 400 medley relays, all of which finished among the top eight nationally...Individually, Shapira Bar-Or won the consolation heat of the 200 freestyle and was 10th overall in the 200 fly...His lead-off time in the 400 freestyle ranks him among the top five in school history in the 100 freestyle with a 42.37...Named the Counsilman-Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week on 11/17...Was named to the Pac-10's All-Academic for the second consecutive season, studying Management Information and Systems in the Eller College of Management.

2009-10:Overcame a bout with a stomach illness at the NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio to win three All-America honors...Placed 10th overall in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:34.26...Helped Arizona's 800 free relay to third overall, splitting a 1:34.32...Recorded the fast split among the 400 freestyle relay All-American team at 42.43...Named to the Pac-10's All-Academic First Team.

2008-09:Scored in two events for the Wildcats in his freshman season...Was a member of Arizona's 800 freestyle relay at the NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas which placed second nationally and set a school record time in 6:11.82 with fellow relay-mates Jean Basson, Nicholas Nilo and Joel Greenshields...Individually, he finished 11th overall in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:34.01.
