Swim/Dive Lands 25 on Pac-12 All-Academic Team

TUCSON, Ariz. -

Arizona Swimming and Diving landed 25 total athletes on the Pac-12 Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving All-Academic Teams, Commissioner Larry Scott announced on Friday.

Included on the lists, five Wildcats were named to the first team, six to the second team and 14 received honorable mention accolades.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be either a starter, or a significant contributor.

On the women’s side, senior Emma Darlington (Tucson, Ariz.), junior Chelsey Salli (Vancouver, B.C.) and sophomore Aubrey Peacock (Jacksonville, Fla.) were named to the first team, as seniors Andres Guerra (Sugarland, Texas) and Austen Thompson (Chandler, Ariz.) represented the men’s team.

On the second team, senior Ainsley Oliver (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and juniors Ellyn Baumgardner (Fairfax, Va.) and Ashley Herrera (La Palma, Calif.) were selected from the women’s side, while senior Cameron Owen (Fishers, Ind.), junior Sam Rowan (Eugene, Ore.) and sophomore Mitchell Friedemann (Allenton, Wis.) were selected from the men’s.

The nine women that were given honorable mention include seniors Alyssa Anderson (Granite Bay, Calif.) and Grace Kittle (Dallas, Texas), junior Monica Drake (Bloomington, Ill.) and sophomores Sarah Denninghoff (Tucson, Ariz.), Ashley Evans (Phoenix, Ariz.), Kait Flederbach (Carmel, Ind.), Margo Geer (Milford Center, Ohio), Lindsay Seemann (Newmarket, Ontario) and Hallie Stupp (St. Louis, Mo.).


 

 

The additional five athletes on the men’s side to receive honorable mention honors include seniors Cory Chitwood (Union, Ky.), Ben Grado (Conifer, Colo.), Nick Hadinger (Tucson, Ariz.), Kevin Munsch (Kent, Wash.) and sophomore Tommy Gutman (Jacksonville, Fla.).
