Reffkin Tennis Center: This weekend’s matches will be held at Reffkin Tennis Center, located at 50 S. Alvernon Way. The Reffkin Tennis Center is home to 25 lighted tennis courts and is the largest public facility in the Southwest. The center was named the USTA Outstanding Facility of the Year in 1993.

BBQ Tailgate: On Saturday, Reffkin tennis center will host a tailgate for the Wildcats. Food and drink are free to spectators and will be available beginning at 11:300 a.m.

Arizona Head Coach Tad Berkowitz enters his eighth season as the head coach of the Wildcats. During the 2008-09 season he was named the Pac-10 Men's Tennis Coach of the Year and the Wilson/ITA West Region Coach of the Year. Last season, he led the Wildcats to a 9-14 overall record. He joined the program in 2004 and has held numerous national and collegiate coaching positions. He was promoted to the head coaching position in the spring of 2005 after serving as hall-of-famer Bill Wright's assistant. Berkowitz was a top collegiate player for the Universities of Kentucky and New Mexico, respectively.

Super Seven: Arizona returns seven players from the 2011-2012 season. Juniors Giacomo Miccini, Kieren Thompson, Mario Urquidi, and Andre Vidaller return as the most experienced members of the team. Sophomores Carlos Bermudez, Robin Chou and Sumeet Shinde also return as key contributors.


 

 

Fresh Four: The Wildcats welcome four new players to the 2013 roster. Freshman Matt Dunn joined the team in the fall along with sophomore transfer Ben Lee. Joining the team at the start of the spring season are freshman Naoki Takeda and junior transfer Fred Ask.

Last Time Out: The Cats dropped their first match in the 2013 season in a 4-3 loss to the San Diego Toreros. The Cats dropped the doubles point with losses on courts one and two, court three was left unfinished. In singles play, Fredrik Ask and Kieren Thompson remained undefeated in singles action with wins on courts one and four. Also clinching a singles win was Giacomo Miccini on court three.

Match Data: The Wildcats (5-1, 0-0 Pac-12) will host New Mexico (4-5, 0-0 Mountain West) on Saturday. The Wildcats and the Lobos will square off at Reffkin Tennis Center.

The Series vs. New Mexico: This will be the 42nd meeting of the two schools with Arizona holding the 33-8 all-time advantage. The Last Meeting: On March 14, 2012, the Cats traveled to Albuquerque, N.M. where the Lobos swept play en route to a 7-0 victory over the Cats.

Scouting the Lobos: On Feb. 10, the Lobos traveled to Eugene, Ore. to take on Arizona’s Pac-12 foe, the Oregon Ducks. The Lobos dropped the doubles point with losses on courts two and three and went on to win only two singles matches in a 5-2 loss.

Match Data: The Wildcats (5-1, 0-0 Pac-12) will host the UC Riverside Highlanders (1-6, 0-0 Big West) at Reffkin Tennis Center at noon.

The Series vs. UC Riverside: This will be the fourth meeting of the two schools with Arizona holding the 3-0 all-time advantage over the Highlanders.

The Last Meeting: On Jan. 22, 2011 the Cats hosted the Highlanders at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. The Cats swept play to win 7-0 in their season opener.

Scouting the Highlanders: On Feb. 12, the Highlanders hosted UC San Diego. UC Riverside dropped the doubles point with losses on courts one and three and went on to win singles matches on courts three and six. The loss marked the sixth of the season for the Highlanders. UC Riverside will play NAU before heading south to Tucson to take on the Wildcats.
