LaNelle Robson Tennis Center: This weekend’s matches will be held on Arizona’s home courts. LaNelle Robson Tennis Center was dedicated in 1991 and is home to 17 lit courts, a center-court grandstand and a permanent canopy over the stands.

Arizona Head Coach Tad Berkowitz enters his eighth season as the head coach of the Wildcats. During the 2008-09 season he was named the Pac-10 Men's Tennis Coach of the Year and the Wilson/ITA West Region Coach of the Year. He joined the program in 2004 and has held numerous national and collegiate coaching positions. He was promoted to the head coaching position in the spring of 2005 after serving as hall-of-famer Bill Wright's assistant. Berkowitz was a top collegiate player for the Universities of Kentucky and New Mexico, respectively.

Super Seven: Arizona returns seven players from the 2011-2012 season. Juniors Giacomo Miccini, Kieren Thompson, Mario Urquidi, and Andre Vidaller return as the most experienced members of the team. Sophomores Carlos Bermudez, Robin Chou and Sumeet Shinde also return as key contributors.


 

 

Fresh Four: The Wildcats welcome four new players to the 2013 roster. Freshman Matt Dunn joined the team in the fall along with sophomore transfer Ben Lee. Joining the team at the start of the spring season are freshman Naoki Takeda and junior transfer Fred Ask.

Last Time Out: The Cats traveled to Reffkin Tennis Center, in Tucson, to host the New Mexico Lobos and the UC Riverside Highlanders. On Saturday, the Cats claimed the doubles point against the Lobos but only claimed two singles victories in a 4-3 loss. On Sunday, the Cats swept play against the Highlanders with wins on two doubles courts, one left unfinished, and six singles victories. Freshman Matt Dunn made his first appearance of 2013 on Sunday with a win on court six. Junior Kieren Thompson remains undefeated in 2013 singles play with wins on courts four and two, respectively.

Friday’s Match Data: The Wildcats (6-2, 0-0 Pac-12) will host Cal Poly (5-2, 0-0 Big West) at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center at noon. The Series vs. Cal Poly: This will be the ninth meeting of the two schools with Arizona holding a 7-1 all-time advantage.

The Last Meeting: On Feb. 4, 2012 the Cats hosted Cal Poly in Tucson. The Cats dropped the doubles point with losses on courts one and two and claimed only one singles match in the 6-1 decision. Earning Arizona’s only point of the day was Andre Vidaller on court two. The match marked the first loss against Cal Poly.

Scouting the Mustangs: Last weekend, the Mustangs claimed a 5-2 match over Loyola Marymount. Cal Poly dropped the doubles point with losses on courts two and three but went on to win singles matches on courts one, two, three, five and six to clinch the victory.

Sunday’s Match Data: The Wildcats (5-2, 0-0 Pac-12) are set to host the De Paul Blue Demons (3-4, 0-0 Big East) at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center at noon.

The Series vs. De Paul: This will be the second meeting of the two schools with Du Paul holding the 1-0 advantage over Arizona. The match marks the first in 2013 with Arizona holding the disadvantage.

The Last Meeting: On Feb. 10, 2012 the Blue Demons topped the Cats in all nine matches in Minneapolis, Minn. Scouting the Blue Demons: Last weekend, De Paul edged Toledo, 4-3. The Blue Demons claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three and went on to win singles matches on courts one four and six.
