Cats Travel to ITA All-American Championships

The Arizona Wildcat men’s tennis team will head to Tulsa, Okla. for the ITA All-American Championships. Four of the nine Wildcats will compete at the University of Tulsa. Play will begin on Sept. 29 and continue through Oct. 7 at Michael D. Chase Tennis Center.

The tournament will consist of pre-qualifying, qualifying and main draw rounds. Pre-qualifying singles will include 256 at-large and wildcard players who must win four rounds to continue to qualifying rounds. Qualifying singles will consist of 112 at-large and wildcard players and the main draw will narrow the playing field to just 48 at-large and wildcard selections.

Doubles play will begin with qualifying rounds of 64 teams who must win three rounds to advance to the 24 team main draw.

Representing the Wildcats in this year’s tournament will be juniors Giacomo Miccini, Andre Vidaller and Mario Urquidi as well as sophomore Sumeet Shinde. This will be the first tournament in 2012 for Vidaller and Urquidi. For tournament draws and information visit itatennis.com
