The junior high jumper set another personal best in her signature even en route to winning the competition.

University of Arizona Wildcat women's track and field junior high jumper Brigetta Barrett continued her win streak with another dominating performance at the World University Games. The event took place at the Main Stadium of Universiade Center in Universiade New Town, Longgang District in Shenzen, China, Aug. 16-21.
Barrett, competing for Team USA, won the high jump title with a personal-best clearance of 6-5. Her mark now sits at tied for No. 2 on Arizona's all-time list and currently ranks No. 6 in the world for 2011. She also won the B section of the high jump preliminaries with a clearance of 5-10.75.
UA head cross country coach and associate head track and field coach James Li served as the men's head coach for Team USA. He paced the squad to four medals during the event: one gold, one silver and two bronze. In total, Team USA will bring nine medals home from China. The squads finished fifth in the medal count.
Junior Edgar Rivera-Morales, competing for Team Mexico, finished tied for fifth in the B section of the high jump preliminaries but did not advance to the final. He cleared 7-0.5.
Former Wildcat Gabriella Duclos, competing for Team Canada, finished sixth in the A section of the pole vault preliminaries with a jump of 13-7.25 and advanced to the final. In the finals, she finished tied for 11th with a height of 13-5.25.
Former Wildcat Luis Rivera-Morales, also competing for Team Mexico, finished 14th in the A section of the long jump preliminaries but did not advance to the finals. His best jump of the day measured 23-8.75.
Barrett will compete next at the 2011 IAAF World Championships, in Daegu, Korea, Aug. 27-Sept. 4.
