2006: Mpanga was one of the top runners on the Wildcat cross country team during the 2005 season. Top finish on the season was fourth at the Dave Murray Invitational. Earned All-Western Region honors for placing 20th at the NCAA Western Regional. Outdoors, Mutanya had season’s best times of 3:53.88 in the 1,500 meters and 14:50.23 in the 5,000 meters. South Plains Junior College 2005: Placed third in the NJCCA cross country championship during the 2004 cross country season. 2004-05 Most valuable athlete in both track and field and cross country for South Plains. Southwestern Christian College 2004: Finished 5th in 3,000m and 1500m at the NJCAA Indoor Championships. Also placed 5th in the 5,000m and the 1500m at NJCAA Outdoor Championships. High School Makerere College School: Most valuable athlete in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Voted best athlete in Wakiso district from 1998-2003. 2001 East African youth champion in the 3,000-meter. National Team captain of the Ugandan World Youth Championships team in Hungary in 2001, where Uganda won a bronze medal. Member of champion National Road Relay team in 2000.
