No stranger to Arizona Athletics, Lisa Napoleon Salgado returns to Tucson as the Director of Operations for the Wildcat women's basketball team. The 2011-12 season will mark her first in this position at UA. "Having Lisa back working with our program is something we're really looking forward to," head coach Niya Butts said. "She is such an asset and a very hard worker. She knows the ins and outs of our program, as well as our athletic department, and that will be a great benefit to our team." Salgado returns to the UA campus after spending the 2010-11 year as an Academic Program Specialist in the department of Student-Athlete Academic Services at Florida State. She worked primarily with the men's and women's basketball teams. "I'm thrilled to be back here at the University of Arizona," Salgado said. "I have great respect for Niya Butts and her program. I'm looking forward to this new role and bringing everything I can to Arizona women's basketball." In total, Salgado has spent seven years working with the Wildcats in various roles. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Director of Student Development at the University of Arizona. She oversaw the academic progress for student-athletes in men's basketball, women's basketball and baseball. Salgado earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Montclair State University in 1995. She went on to teach for four years in the New Jersey school system before leaving to receive her Masters of Education in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Arizona. She earned her Doctorate in Educational Psychology in 2011, also from the University of Arizona. She is married to Andrew Salgado and they have a daughter, Noel.
