Tournament Notes
TUCSON - University of Arizona women's golf will continue the spring season with the Bruin/Wave Invitational, hosted by UCLA and Pepperdine. Held at the El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana, Calif., competition will take place Mon.-Tues., March 4-5.
Two rounds will be played Monday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. PT/9 a.m. MT. The final round will start at 7:30 a.m./8:30 a.m. MT on Tuesday. The El Caballero Country Club is a par 72, 6,131-yard course.
Sophomores Manon Gidali, Kendall Prince and Andrea Vilarasau and freshmen Janie Jackson and Anna Kim will play for the Arizona team this weekend. Sophomore transfer Patricia Garcia will make her Wildcat debut, playing as an individual. Gidali is ranked No. 44 individually with Prince ranked No. 53 by Golfweek/Sagarin.
No. 8 Arizona, BYU, Denver, Hawaii, Long Beach State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, No. 21 Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, No. 20 UCLA, UNLV, No. USC and Washington State will play in Tarzana, Calif. this weekend (rankings according to golfstat.com 2/27/13).
Last time out, the Wildcats picked up a top-10 finish with a seventh-place showing at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge. Kim was Arizona's top finisher in a seven-way tie for 25th place. In her first tournament as the Cats' top performer, she carded scores of 81, 71 and 73 for a three-round total of 225 (+12). The Northrop Grumman also marks her highest finish in a collegiate tournament.
