The University of Arizona Wildcat women's golf team saw three of its players earn spots on the All-Pac-12 Conference teams, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
The Wildcats earned a third-place finish at the 2012 Pac-12 Championships last weekend and, in the last three seasons, have earned first, second and bronze finishes in the conference tournament. As a team, the squad has won three tournaments this season while collecting top-five finishes in three other events.
UA won its home event by 12 strokes and the UNLV Invitational by 19 strokes. At the Wildcat Invitational, the squad scored with rounds of 285, 274 and 292 for a total of 851 (-13). UA's three-round total is a school record over 54 holes, replacing the previous best of 854 (-10), set by the 1998-99 squad at Randolph North Course, in Tucson.
Freshman Manon Gidali was named first-team All-Pac-12. She has a stroke average of 72.58 with eight rounds at or below par. She has collected three top-10 finishes and five top-20 finishes. She won the Wildcat Invitational and tied for first at the UNLV Invitational.
In her first collegiate tournament, Gidali won the Wildcat Invitational with rounds of 67, 66 and 71 for a three-round total of 204 (-12). Her rounds of 66 and 67 rank tied for No. 2 and tied for No. 6, respectively, all-time at Arizona. Gidali's three day total of 204 (-12) is a new school record over 54 holes, replacing Lorena Ochoa's previous best of 206 (-10) from Trysting Tree Golf Club (Corvallis, Ore.) in 2001.
Senior Isabelle Boineau was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. She earned the third conference postseason award of her career after being named first team in 2011 and second team in 2010. She has a stroke average of 74.27 with eight rounds at or below bar. She has collected two top-10 finishes and four in the top 20. She tied for first at the Windy City Intercollegiate and the UNLV Invitational.
Senior Margarita Ramos was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. She earned the third conference postseason award of her career after being named first team in 2011 and second team in 2010. She has a stroke average of 74.20 with eight rounds at or below par. She has four top-10 finishes and five in the top 20. She paced Arizona at the Pac-12 Championships, finishing tied for ninth.
Arizona was selected to play in the NCAA East Regional Championships, hosted by Penn State in State College, May 10-12.
