NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Arizona women's golf team competed in the first round of the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Nashville, Tenn. today.
The Wildcats currently sit in second place after shooting a 298 (+10) for the day. Arizona is four shots behind Texas, who shot a 294 (+6) as a team. Kentucky shot a 299 (+11), Virginia shot a 300 (13), and Georgia shot a 301 (+13) to trail the Wildcats.
Wake Forest's Olafia Kristinsdottir, Virginia's Briana Mao, and Michigan State's Caroline Powers are each tied for first place after the first round by carding a score of 71 (-1).
Individually, Arizona was lead by sophomores Manon Gidali and Kendall Prince and true freshman Janie Jackson.
Prince was Arizona's top finisher with a 73 (+1). The sophomore started off the round with 11-straight pars before she birdied the par 3 on the 12th hole. Prince is currently sitting in a six-way tie for eighth place, only two shots behind the leader.
Gidali and Jackson both shot scores of 74 (+2) for the day. Jackson made three birdies and Gidali made one birdie for the round. Jackson finished the day making birdie on the 18th hole. The two are currently in a four-way tie for 14th place.
Sophomore Andrea Vilarasau and freshman Anna Kim rounded out the rest of the Arizona team. Vilarasau carded a score of 79 (+7) and sits in 54th place. The sophomore finished the day on a high note by making birdie on the 17th hole and making par on the 18th hole.
Kim shot a first round score of 77 (+5) and currently stands in 37th place. She shot a 37 (+1) on the back nine, her better nine of the day.
