Arizona Poised to "Flip for the Fight"

Feb. 16, 2013

Tucson, AZ- The No. 14 Arizona gymnastics team will take the floor  today (Saturday Feb. 16) with dual purposes of equal importance.  In a battle of nationally ranked programs, No. 14 Wildcats will take on the No. 8 Huskers at McKale Center but there is a little more to this particular meet than just gymnastics: the Cats will be showing their support for Breast Cancer awareness in their annual “Flipping for the Fight” meet.

Just as in gymnastics, the numbers being posted are so very important, and the statistics for breast cancer are staggering.  One in eight women has a chance of developing breast cancer in her lifetime, this year alone almost 40,000 men and women will die from the disease, over 232,500 will be diagnosed, and 250,000 women under the age of 40 will fight breast cancer this year.

Arizona will don special pink leotards to show their support during the meet, and fans are encouraged to wear pink as well as Arizona Athletics continues to join the community to raise awareness for breast cancer.  The meet starts at 4pm MST  February 16, tickets are available at the box office or at ArizonaWildcats.com. The meet will also be streamed live via the Pac 12 Networks, or for insider updates, photos, and video go to the official Arizona Gymnastics Twitter page @AZGymnastics.
