The No. 18 gymnastics team traveled to Lexington, Ky. this weekend to compete against the unranked teams of Kentucky and Western Michigan University.??It was the teams* fourth non-conference meet and fifth road meet of the season.??The Cats earned second place, falling to the Kentucky Wildcats by the slim margin of 195.925-195.625. WMU took third with a 191.525.? The team is now 6-4 overall and 3-3 in the Pac-10.

※We did some really good things tonight, but we had some metal errors throughout the meet, with a few falls§ said head coach Bill Ryden.

The Wildcats began the night on bars, with senior Karin Wurm notching a solid 9.850 giving her first place.? Junior Alexis Greene took third with a 9.775?and junior Sarah Specht followed in fifth with a 9.750.? The team score was a 48.775.
?
For the second rotation the team was on beam, scoring a team total 49.275 making it their season high on the event. They made impressive progression with Wurm once again taking first place with a 9.975 upping her career high from a 9.900. Junior Briana Bergeson followed in second with an astounding 9.900 and sophomore Miranda Russell in fifth with a 9.875.? This made for Bergeson*s and Russell*s season high. Junior Alexis Greene and senior Danielle Hicks followed respectively with a 9.775 and a 9.750.

On floor, the Cats scored a 48.675.??Seniors Danielle Hicks and Karin Wurm topped the list at fifth place, both scoring a 9.800.?

The Cats continued on vault, with Junior Alexis Greene marking a 9.850, tying her season high and giving her third place. Freshman Colleen Fisher earned fourth place with a 9.825 and Wurm in fifth with a 9.800. The total team scored notched at 48.725.

?Gymnast Karin Wurm won the all around with a 39.425, making it her fifth win of the season while junior Alexis Green earned fourth with a 39.100.

※It*s good to have Karin back competing in the all-around, and Alexis is continually improving which is great§ said Ryden.

The team*s next meet is against Denver in Denver, CO next Friday March 15th.
