Wildcats Shut Out by Cougars 3-0

PULLMAN, Wash. – The University of Arizona women’s soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Washington State Cougars on Sunday at Lower Soccer Field in Pullman, Wash.

For Arizona (5-6-3), eight Wildcats combined for a total of 11 shot attempts, led by Jazmin Ponce, Ana-Maria Motoya and Ariel Boulicault with two shots apiece. Kristin Strother, Kirstyn Magyar, Shannon Heinzler, Susana Melendez and Hayley Estopare each registered a shot each.

Washington State (8-4-1) out shot the Wildcats 18-11 with 12 on goal. Rachel Doyle, Brandi Vega and Zoe Jeffers each scored a goal for the Cougars in the 3-0 victory over Arizona. 

In the net, Arizona goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman recorded seven saves in the match while Washington State goalkeeper, Ariana Byrd, recorded five saves for the Cougars.

Arizona returns home for a match between No.2 Stanford on Thursday, Oct.11 at 7:00 p.m. at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium. The match will be on the Pac-12 Networks.
