Arizona 0, Oregon 2 (Final Box)

TUCSON, Ariz. University of Arizona Wildcat women’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to the Oregon Ducks on Friday night at Pape’ Field in Eugene, Ore.

Arizona (5-8-3) came out strong on defense holding Oregon scoreless until the 84th minute of the match. Arizona players Ana-Maria Montoya, Alex Smith, Jazmin Ponce, Shannon Heinzler and Sheridan Cohen each registered a shot apiece to give the Wildcats a total of five shots throughout the match.

For Oregon (7-7-2), Nicole Bakke earned her first goal of the season in the 84th minute off a pass from teammate Scout Libke to put the Ducks up 1-0. Bri Pugh earned her first goal of the season with 12 seconds remaining in the match on a one on one breakaway with Arizona goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman. Oregon outshot the Wildcats 14-5 with Pugh leading the Ducks with three.

In the net, Arizona goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman registered four saves while Oregon goalkeeper, Abby Steele, recorded three saves for the Ducks.

 The Cats travels to Corvallis, Ore. to take on the Oregon State Beavers on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Paul Lorenz Field at Patrick Wayne Valley Stadium.
