TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona Wildcat women's soccer team will be on the road to the Max Spilsbury Field at Lumberjack Stadium to face Northern Arizona University this weekend to play its final spring game of 2012. The Wildcats will kick off on Saturday, April 21 at 11:30 a.m. against the Lumberjacks. The match will be televised live on Fox Sports Arizona.
This is Arizona's third televised match and first ever in the spring. The soccer squad has a 1-1 record when on TV. The last televised game for the Wildcats was on September 22, 2006 against then-#5 Portland and they came up short with a loss (0-2). In 2005, the women's soccer team was able to come out with a victory (2-1) against Princeton at the Princeton Invitational on the first televised game in program history.
With a 2012 Spring record of 2-1-1, the Wildcats hope to continue the success and finish the final game of the season with a win. Arizona recorded victories against Grand Canyon University as well as New Mexico State University along with a loss to BYU in the opening game of the spring. In the 3-1 victory against GCU on Saturday, March 3rd, sophomore Jazmin Ponce scored two goals and freshman Emily Lai got on the books scoring a single goal.
