Arizona Soccer Kicks Off 2012 Season Tonight

TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona women's soccer team kicks off its 2012 season tonight in a non-conference clash against Long Beach State. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. at George Allen Field in Long Beach, Calif.

The Wildcats are returning 14 players from a season ago, including midfielder Ana-Maria Montoya who competed for Colombia at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Montoya is one of seven returning players that netted a goal last year for the Wildcats.

Arizona is looking to put together a strong season after posting a 1-16-2 overall mark a season ago. Long Beach State is coming off from its best season in program history as the 49ers finished with an overall record of 18-6-1.

The Wildcats will open their home schedule next Thursday, Aug. 23, when they host BYU. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at Murphy Field at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium.
