University of Arizona Wildcat Softball enjoyed mercy-rule victories over South Mountain and Central Arizona in game two of the Arizona Fall Classic. The Cats blanked South Mountain 8-0 before cruising to a 13-2 win in the nightcap against Central Arizona.

UA used walk-off homers to win both games with Brigette Del Ponte providing a solo shot against South Mountain and Chelsea Goodacre using her second home run of the game, this a grand slam, to end the game against Central Arizona.

UA pitchers continued to dominate fall ball. In game one, freshman Nancy Bowling struck out 11 of the 13 batters she faced including nine consecutive at one point. Estela Piñon struck out two and walked a batter in the final inning in relief.

Piñon started game two and hurled three innings of perfect ball. Shelby Babcock entered in the fourth and took the perfecto bid into the fifth, where she was an out away from finishing the job. A walk and a single ended the perfect and no-hit bids before a two-RBI triple by Central's Alex Blanco scored the first runs surrendered by Arizona pitchers in fall ball.

Goodacre led the Wildcat offense with two home runs on the day, both coming in game two. The first drove in three runs and the latter, a grand slam, ended the game in the bottom of the fifth. The sophomore's seven RBI gave her the fall team lead with 10 driven in five games. Goodacre also leads the team with three homers in fall ball.

Brigette Del Ponte was 4-for-5 on the day with a home run and a double. Del Ponte improved her team-leading fall average to a staggering .667 (10-for-15). Of Del Ponte's 10 hits, five have gone for extra bases (four doubles, one home run).

The Arizona Fall Classic concludes Sunday. Arizona takes on Cypress and Pima at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., respectively.
