AUSTIN – The Arizona men’s and women’s swimming and diving team’s wrapped up its non-conference dual meet today in Austin, Texas. The No. 4 Arizona men beat the top ranked Texas Longhorns by the score of 204-149 while the No. 4 women were downed 186.5-162.5.

To start day two, both men’s and women’s 200 medley relay team’s placed first in the event. The team of Hailey DeGolia, Annie Chandler, Ana Agy and Anna Turner turned in a time of 1:39.78 while the men’s team of Jake Tapp, Marcus Titus, Nicolas Nilo and Jordan Smith won in 1:28.86.

Joel Greenshields won the men’s 200 freestyle in a time of 1:35.35 for his first event victory of the season. Greenshields, who swam for Canada in the Beijing Olympics, did not compete in the fall season. Fellow Olympic team member Jake Tapp followed up Greenshields performance by winning the 100 back in 48.24

Senior Lara Jackson won her usual 50 freestyle event, but that was the only non-relay event that the Arizona women won on Saturday.

A day after taking the 400 IM, Jack Brown came back and won the 200 IM in a time of 1:48.01.

In the men’s 100 breaststroke, Marcus Titus and Tom Cole placed one-two in 54.07 and 55.04, respectively.

All platform diving events were exhibitioned Saturday, with Ben Grado leading the men with 348.52 and Ainsley Oliver pacing the women with 256.05.

To close the two-day meet, Arizona took home both 400 freestyle relays. The women’s victory though could not place them ahead of their Texas counter-parts.

Up next for the Wildcats is a rivalry dual meet against Arizona State on February 14, beginning at 1 p.m. MST.
