Senior Alyssa Anderson (Granite Bay, Calif.), sophomores Margo Geer (Milford Center, Ohio) and Samantha Pickens (Murrysville, Pa.) and the 200 freestyle relay team all earned top-three finishes for the No. 9 Arizona Women’s Swimming team on the second day of the Pac-12 Championships on Thursday.

Pickens kicked off the evening with an impressive runner-up finish after posting a career-high score of 329.00 on the 1m board in the women’s diving competition.

Geer also recorded a runner-up finish in the 50 free after posting two NCAA “A” cuts on the day in the event.

Anderson earned a third-place finish in the 500 free, finishing only behind California’s Catherine Breed and sister and USC swimmer, Haley Anderson.

Senior Emma Darlington (Tucson, Ariz.) joined sophomores Kait Flederbach (Carmel, Ind.), Aubrey Peacock (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Geer for a second-place finish in the 200 free relay to cap off a successful second day at the Championships.

“I was really pleased with how the women performed,” Arizona head coach Eric Hansen said. “I thought the relays came together well and we are getting sharper as we approach NCAAs and that is the most important thing. Our team has a great attitude and we are really enjoying this meet.”

Arizona returns to the pool on Friday at 10 a.m. PT with the preliminary rounds of the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and the 400 medley relay. The diving portion will feature the women’s 3m and men’s 1m.
