Quintero Paces Cats on Final Day of Zones

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Freshman Rafael Quintero earned a second place finish in the platform diving competition to lead Arizona on the final day of the Zone E Diving Championships at the Air Force Academy’s Cadet Natatorium on Saturday.

Quintero, who has already qualified for the NCAA Championships, came in second with 828.25 in the platform. Kristian Ipsen of Stanford won the platform competition with a total score of 856.60. Quintero qualified for NCAAs on the first day of the Zone E Championship with a third place finish in the 1m.

Arizona sophomore Carter Craft qualified for the finals of the platform and earned a 10th place finish with a total of 580.50.

Along with Quintero, Samantha Pickens of the women’s squad punched her ticket to the NCAA Championship.

The NCAA Championships begin on March 21 with the women’s meet and the men’s meet will follow beginning on March 28. Both meets will be contested in Indianapolis, Ind.
