Arizona swimming had another exciting night at the Olympic trials as the Ford/Zona teams added Alyssa Anderson to an Olympic relay team and Matt Grevers and Clark Burckle secured spots in their event finals.

Anderson swam the 200 free final in a time of 1:58.40, earning a sixth-place finish and qualifying her for a relay team in the 2012 Olympic Games. She joins her sister Haley Anderson, who won the open water event.

Clark Burckle also impressed with his first-place ranking in the 200 breast after swimming a time of 2:10.01 in the semifinal round.

“Clark is racing against some seasoned veterans, but I’ll tell you what—no one been doing it like Clark has,” Arizona head coach Eric Hansen said. “He eats it, sleeps it—he’s just very possessive about that race. He’s got the speed, it’s just going to come down to the last 50 meters.”

In addition, Matt Grevers did not disappoint once again after placing third in the 100 free, qualifying him for Friday night’s final.

The trials will continue Friday with the women’s 100 free, men’s 200 back, women’s 200 breast and men’s 200 IM in the preliminary rounds. In the evening, the women’s 100 free, men’s 200 back, women’s 200 breast and men’s 200 IM semifinals and the men’s 200 breast, men’s 100 free and women’s 200 fly finals will take place.
