SAN DIEGO, Calif. -
Arizona junior Kim Stubbe (Mol, Belgium) ended her impressive run at the ITA Regional Championships in San Diego, Calif. on Saturday after falling to Pepperdine's Lorraine Guillermo in the quarterfinal singles round.
Guillermo defeated Stubbe, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
In doubles play, Stubbe paired up with freshman Inge Hendrikx (Zundert, The Netherlands) to face UCLA's Robin Anderson and Pamela Montez in the round of 16. Stubbe and Hendrikx took it to a tiebreaker, but lost the match, 9-8(6).
"The girls performed well today," Arizona head coach Vicky Maes said. "The doubles were good against a top national team. In singles too, we had lots of chances."
Next on the Arizona women's tennis fall schedule is the Lobos Invitational, which will be held in Albuquerque, N.M., Nov. 1-4.
"I did see a lot of good improvements throughout the week," Maes said. "Seeing them improve was very encouraging."
