SAN DIEGO, Calif. -

No. 28 Arizona (4-2) hits the road this weekend to face a pair of San Diego teams on Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9.

Arizona will face San Diego State (3-1) on Friday at 2 p.m. and No. 49 University of San Diego (1-1) on Saturday, at 10:30 a.m.

This will be Arizona’s second road trip of the season. In their first away outing, the Wildcats split two matches against top-125 teams.

The UA squad will head to San Diego after going 1-1 at home this past weekend. The Pac-12 awarded UA junior Lacey Smyth (Oceanside, Calif.) as Pac-12 Player of the Week for her play in both matches.

San Diego State is coming into Friday’s match after upsetting No. 40 St. Mary’s this past Sunday.

In their previous six outings, Arizona has defeated San Diego State four times with the Aztecs winning once (one match was canceled). The last time that these two schools met was last season when Arizona beat SDSU, 5-2.

In this past fall season, UA juniors Susan Mc Rann (Dublin, Ireland) and Smyth defeated San Diego State’s Alicia Aguilar, who has played at No. 2 spot in the past two matches. Senior Julia Wais has played No. 1 for the Aztecs.

The last time that the Wildcats faced San Diego was in 2012, when Arizona sneaked by USD, 4-3. In their last six outings, Arizona has won four while the Toreros have won two.

San Diego will be the fifth top-125 ranked team that Arizona will face this season. Arizona is 2-2 against top-125 opponents.
