TUCSON, Ariz. -

Arizona women’s tennis team landed three players in the ITA NCAA Division I Women’s rankings, the ITA announced on Friday.

Junior Lacey Smyth (Oceanside, Calif.) was tabbed No. 25, junior Kim Stubbe (Mol, Belgium) No. 72 and freshman transfer Akilah James came in at No. 114.

“We are pleased to have a great core group of players represented in the national rankings,” Arizona head coach Vicky Maes said. “We expect that this is just a starting point for them, as I feel strongly everyone will get a lot better over the next few months. We have a solid team all the way down the line-up and I am confident that we will continue to be a significant force not only in the individual rankings but also as a team.”

The Wildcats lost just three seniors on team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2012.
