The Arizona volleyball team hits the road to The Beaver State to play at OSU and No. 4 Oregon

TUCSON, Ariz. – Following a home split against No. 5 UCLA and No. 6 USC over the weekend, the Arizona (13-12, 5-9 Pac-12) volleyball team returns to action with a road trip at Oregon State (13-13, 3-11 Pac-12) and No. 4 Oregon (20-3, 11-3 Pac-12).
The Wildcats will open the weekend at Oregon State on Friday at 6 p.m. (PT) and at No. 4 Oregon on Sunday at 7 p.m. (PT). Both matches can be seen live for free on Pac-12.com.

Wildcats Drop Three-Set Match To No. 3 Oregon
Alaina Bergsma and Liz Brenner combined for 25 kills to lead No. 3 Oregon (17-1, 8-1 Pac-12) to a 3-0 (14-25, 23-25, 18-25) victory over Arizona (11-9, 3-6 Pac-12) on Friday night inside the McKale Center.

(San Jose, Calif.) recorded a career-high 20 digs in the victory. Lewis, who made her first start of the season at libero in place of a sick Candace Nicholson
(Long Beach, Calif.), was outstanding from the outset. She shattered her previous career-high of 13 digs, which she recorded last season at Utah. The win marked the first time the Wildcats defeated a top-10 opponent since defeating the Bruins, who were ranked No. 2 last season. The Cats hit an efficient .288 on the night, which was their highest hitting percentage since a .337 effort against American back on Sept. 15. Meanwhile, Arizona held UCLA to just .143 hitting on the night. The Wildcats out-blocked the Bruins 7-3, while also finishing with a 47-36 advantage in digs.
Samantha Bricio recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 10 digs to lead No. 6 USC to a 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 20-25, 23-25) victory over Arizona on Sunday afternoon inside the McKale Center. USC hit .270 for the match, while holding the Wildcats to .169 hitting. Each team had 55 kills, but Arizona was hurt by 30 attack errors, compared to just 17 for the Trojans. Arizona was led by Madi Kingdon (Phoenix, Ariz.), who recorded her 10th double-double of the year. Kingdon tied for match-high honors with 18 kills and also tied for a match-high in digs with 19. Shaquillah Torres (Riverside, Calif.) had 11 kills on .333 hitting for the match. Lauren Fuller (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Chanel Brown (Tempe, Ariz.) combined to dish out 45 assists. Fuller had 25 assists and six digs, while Brown recorded 20 assists, five digs and a match-high four service aces. Meanwhile, Lewis and Taylor Arizobal (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) each finished with 15 digs.
Kingdon leads the Wildcats and ranks fifth in the Pac-12 in kills at 4.19 per set, while ranking seventh in the league in points at 4.53 per set. Nicholson leads the squad and ranks sixth in the conference in digs with 4.15 per set. Meanwhile, Brown ranks second in the Pac-12 for service aces with 0.33 aces per set.
Following this weekend’s matches, Arizona returns home for the final two home contests of the year. The Wildcats will face No. 2 Stanford on Wednesday, Oct. 24 before playing Cal on Friday, Oct. 26.

The Wildcats lead the all-time series against the Beavers, 41-13. Arizona defeated Oregon State earlier this year and the Cats have defeated the Beavers five straight times.
Scouting the Beavers
Oregon State ranks third in the Pac-12 in digs at 15.13 per set and are led by Becky Defoe, who leads the league in digs at 5.03 per set. OSU also ranks third in service aces at 1.32 per set. The Beavers defeated No. 2 Penn State earlier this season in the Chicago Classic at the beginning of September. OSU is currently in the middle of a six match losing streak.

The Cats lead the all-time series against the Ducks, 41-15, but Oregon has won three straight against Arizona including a three-set win in Tucson earlier this season.
The Ducks are off to their best start in school history even though they are coming off a pair of losses. Oregon ranks first in the NCAA in assists (14.72 p/s) and kills (15.77 p/s), while ranking second in the Pac-12 in both service aces (1.35 p/s) and hitting percentage (.291). Meanwhile, setter Lauren Plum leads the nation in assists at 13.09 per set. Alaina Bergsma leads the Pac-12 in points with 5.13 per set.
