The Arizona volleyball closes out the regular season at Washington State and Arizona State

TUCSON, Ariz. – After defeating Colorado and Utah to close out its home schedule, the Arizona (16-13, 8-10 Pac-12) volleyball team closes out the regular season at Washington State (12-18, 2-16 Pac-12) and Arizona State (18-13, 7-11 Pac-12) this week.
The Wildcats will open the road trip at Washington State on Wednesday at 8 p.m. (PT) before closing out the regular season at in-state rival Arizona State on Friday at 6 p.m. (MT). Both matches will be broadcasted live on the Pac-12 Networks.

Arizona Takes Pac-12 Opener Against Rival ASU, 3-1
Sophomore Madi Kingdon (Phoenix, Ariz.) recorded 20 kills and 11 digs to lift the Arizona (9-3, 1-0 Pac-12) volleyball team to a Pac-12 opening win over archrival Arizona State, 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 25-21), Tuesday night inside McKale Center.
Three players recorded double-figure kills including a career-high 14 kills from freshman Olivia Magill
(Seattle, Wash.) to lead Arizona to a 3-1 victory over Colorado on Friday night inside the McKale Center. Magill recorded her 14 kills on .524 hitting to go along with a team-high five blocks. Meanwhile, teammate Taylor Arizobal
(Laguna Niguel, Calif.) recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 11 digs. Madi Kingdon
(Phoenix, Ariz.) was the third member of the Wildcats with double-figure kills as she added 10 and nine digs. Ronni Lewis
(San Jose, Calif.) tied her career-high with 21 digs to lead the Arizona defense. Setters Lauren Fuller
(Los Angeles, Calif.) and Chanel Brown
(Tempe, Ariz.) dished out a combined 57 assists. Fuller recorded 32 assists and eight digs, while Brown had 25 assists, two service aces and two digs.
Arizona hit .296 in Saturday evening’s 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-18) victory over Utah in the home finale at the McKale Center. Arizobal led the team in kills with 16 on .361 hitting. Along with her kills, Arizobal recorded 10 digs to give her a double-double in the final home match of the season. Kingdon also posted a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore Shaquillah Torres (Riverside, Calif.) posted double-digit kills as well with 12 on a match-high .455 hitting. Fuller and Brown combined for 50 assists. Fuller dished out 23 assists and seven digs, while Brown had 27 assists and seven digs. Magill recorded a match-high seven blocks to go along with seven kills. Lewis added 12 digs from the back row. The .296 hitting percentage for the Wildcats was their most efficient in a Pac-12 match this season. They eclipsed their previous Pac-12 high of .288 in the upset of No. 5 UCLA just two weeks ago. Meanwhile, Arizona out-blocked Utah, 13-5 and held the Utes to just .183 hitting.
Kingdon leads the Wildcats and ranks eighth in the Pac-12 in kills at 4.02 per set, while ranking ninth in the league in points at 4.40 per set. Candace Nicholson (Long Beach, Calif.) leads the squad and ranks ninth in the conference in digs with 3.80 per set. Meanwhile, Brown ranks fourth in the Pac-12 for service aces with 0.30 aces per set and Magill sits at seventh in hitting percentage at .346.

The Cougars are led by sophomore Jaicee Harris, who ranks eighth in the Pac-12 in points (4.45 p/s) and ninth in kills (3.98 k/s). Junior setter Camryn Irwin ranks sixth in the league in assists with 10.24 per set. Marcelina Glab is eighth in the Pac-12 in blocks at 1.18 per set and freshman Kate Sommer ranks seventh in digs at 3.98 per set.

Last Time Out: Kingdon recorded 20 kills and 11 digs to lift the Arizona to a Pac-12 opening win over archrival Arizona State, 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 25-21), back on Sept. 18 inside McKale Center. The Arizona defense was outstanding all night as the Cats held ASU to just .107 hitting for the match. The U of A also came up big at the net by tying a season-high with 14 blocks and doubling up the Sun Devils in the blocking category. Arizona also hit .204 for the night.

The Cats own a slight 42-39 advantage in the all-time series against the Sun Devils. Arizona has won six of the last seven meetings against ASU.
Scouting the Sun Devils
Arizona State is led by freshman Macey Gardner with 4.48 kills per set and 4.82 points per set, which both rank third in the Pac-12. Freshman setter Allison Palmer is second in the league with 11.60 assists per set. Stephanie Preach is third in the Pac-12 in digs with 4.68 per set. Erica Wilson is sixth in the league for points with 4.63 per set and sixth in service aces at 0.30 per set.
