WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Four Arizona volleyball student-athletes were named to the 2009 All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention team, announced today by Commissioner Larry Scott.  Whitney Dosty, Jacy Norton, Tiffany Owens and Paige Weber were lauded for their performance over the season.

 

Dosty, a 6’3 hitter from Tucson, Ariz., finished the regular season with a kill per set ratio of 2.95.  In 85 total sets played, Dosty had 251 kills and 46 total blocks.  She was second on the team in kills and third in blocks.

 

Norton, a senior middle blocker, led Arizona with 100 total blocks with 29 of them coming as solo rejections and 71 as block assists.  The Louisville, Ky. native also led the team in hitting percentage at .281 with a minimum of 300 attempts.

 

Weber, the Wildcat captain and setter, started all 106 sets played, tallying 1138 total assists for a ratio of 10.74.  Weber also led Arizona with 30 service aces while chipping in defensively with 215 digs and 44 total blocks.

 

Owens led Arizona in kills with 396 while also starting all 106 sets played. The San Bernardino, Calif. native also was second on the team with 335 digs for a ratio of 3.16 digs per set.

 

Arizona received an at-large NCAA Tournament bid on Sunday to return to the postseason for the first time since 2005.  The team finished the regular season with an overall record of 19-10 and 8-10 in conference.

 

The Wildcats face Texas A&M in the first round of play at 5 p.m. CT on Friday in Baton Rouge, La.
