ARIZONA 2009:Prolific season for Lagat who lead the women's distance squad in her last year. Honors include: Pac-10 Honors in the 1500m and 5000m, all West-Region in the 5000m. NCAA Qualifier in 5000m, reaching the final and finishing 13th. PRs in the 800m, 1500m, 3000m(i) and 5000m in her final season as a Wildcat. 2008:Was an All-Region athlete in the 5000m run, finishing sixth place at the NCAA West Regionals and narrowly missing a chance to advance to the NCAA Championships with her personal record of 16:34.30...Also the team's top runner in the 1500m run, clocking a season's best of 4:27.97 and just missed a regional qualification...Was the women's cross country team's top front runner, culminating in a 47thplace finish at the NCAA Regionals... 2007:Ran the 800m and 1500m in addition to cross country for the Wildcats...Her best time in the 800m for the season was 2:15.57 at the Jim Click Shootout...In the 1500m run, she had her top time of the season of 4:35.58 at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invite... 2006:Showed improvements throughout the course of the 2006 season...Her top finish on the year was a 17th-place finish at the Dave Murray Invitational... 2005:Redshirted.... HIGH SCHOOL KessupGirls School:Did not run cross country in high school, however she did compete in the 1500m all four years... PERSONAL Irine Jebet Lagat ... Born 04-01-85, in Kapsabet, Kenya ... Daughter of Richard and Marsalina Letting ... Has four brothers, Robert Cheseret, William Cheseret, Bernard Lagat and Nathan Lagat, and five sisters, Anjalina Chepchumba, Mary Lagat, Tecla Letting, Everlyne Lagat, and Violah Jebtoo ... Her brother, Olympian Bernard Lagat, is the American record holder over 1500m, Indoor mile, 3000m, and Indoor and Outdoor 5000m and was the first American to win the 1500m/5000m double at World Championships in Osaka 2007, and the first American to medal in the 5000m at Worlds. ... Brother, Robert Cheseret, was a Pac-10 champion on the Arizona men's cross country team and is a seven-time NCAA champion ... Academic major is veterinary sciences with minors in Chemistry and Marketing.
